2011 Budget - Reduced Rate of Inheritance Tax where Gifts to Charity – Curtis Parkinson Solicitors Nottingham

The charitable nature of our country continues, and it can now pay to give money to charity!

For those wealthy philanthropists among us who are considering benefiting a charity in our Wills, you will now benefit from a reduced rate of inheritance tax (IHT) from 6 April 2012.

Essentially, if you leave 10% or more of your net estate to charity, the IHT rate will be reduced from 40% to 36%. Dependant upon you circumstances, this will benefit those with estates over £325K. It may even pay to give money to charity if you are fantastically wealthy.
