16/09/2009 WHY BOB THE BUILDER AND LOCAL BUILDER CHEK WHYTE WERE DOING THE RIGHT THING FILING FOR VOLUNTARY BANKRUPTCY!
Men Behaving Badly star Neil Morrissey is behaving very honourably when he stated recently that he will repay his debts after the collapse of a property scheme. The comedy actor said in an interview that he would take three years to honour the debt rather than declare bankruptcy.
Neil Morrissey, who lives in Crouch End, North London, has lost £2.5 million after investing in a string of hotels and pubs, including a pub frequented by Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas.
He explained recently to the News of the World he would not file for bankruptcy and intended to pay his creditors in full :"People advise you to take the easy route - it'll only last a year and you'll be back up and running. But I just thought there are too many good people who've lost their money on these deals, and I wanted to repay them as much as I possibly could".
Neil Morrissey added: "I feel morally obliged. Afterwards I'll feel better about myself. Now I'm working very, very hard. Every second out there to earn another penny. I don't sit around and get depressed about things. It's not my character."
Roger Pitts, Managing Partner and Debt Recovery specialist / expert at Curtis Parkinson Solicitors, explains: " In the same way that local property developer, Chek Whyte ( who allegedly owes £30 million ) filed for a voluntary agreement last week, Neil Morrissey has entered into an individual voluntary agreement, which means his income minus his living expenses will go to direct to his creditors for three years.
He adds: "Curtis Parkinson Solicitors have a dedicated Debt Recovery Department, with a vast amount of experience, expertise and "know how" in the field of debt retrieval, giving you peace of mind and a speedy resolution. As solicitors, we can offer a mediation and dispute resolution service, that might preclude the need for further legal action - thereby preventing you from incurring additional costs".
Roger Pitts continues: "Whether you are an SME or a large corporate entity, we have a track record working with a wide spectrum of businesses from the sole trader / one man band through to the blue chip, high profile brands, including some of the UK's leading high street lenders, tool hire companies and local authorities".
He concludes: “Like Neil Morrissey’s alter ego, Bob the Builder, Curtis Parkinson ‘can fix it’ when it comes to your debt recovery problems”.
