New National Living Wage

In the July 2015 Budget, it was announced that a new mandatory National Living Wage (NLW) will be introduced for those aged 25 and above.

The new NLW will come into effect on 1st April 2016 and has a starting rate of £7.20. Based on earnings for a full-time worker on the current NLW, the 50p raise means a significant £910 increase in earnings per year.

In addition, the government has outlined plans that the NLW will be increased to £9.00 by the year 2020.
