Curtis Parkinson Team Clinches Victory at My Sight Notts Annual Charity Golf Day

5 October, 2026 3 minutes reading time

Curtis Parkinson Solicitors recently celebrated a spirited sporting triumph, taking first place at the annual My Sight Notts Charity Golf Day.

After finishing as runners-up, Kenneth Curtis led his team to the top spot on the greens this year. Business contacts Nigel Morley (Director at Rise & Recline Ltd), James Gracey (Derbyshire County Council), and Kris Marshall (Director at global consultancy Oliver Wyman) completed the winning lineup. As a result, the team proudly collected the winner’s trophy alongside a fourball voucher for Morley Hayes.

Most importantly, the tournament delivered an outstanding fundraising total. Generous players and sponsors raised £1,300 to support My Sight Nottinghamshire’s life-changing services.

Life-Changing Support Across Nottinghamshire

My Sight Notts works tirelessly to assist local adults and children living with visual impairment. Through dedicated programmes, the charity empowers people to retain their independence, build confidence, and stay active in their local communities.

Assistive technology plays a central role in this mission. Rather than simply offering product brochures, the team demonstrates devices in person, delivers hands-on training, and provides ongoing practical guidance. As a result, service users discover accessible solutions that genuinely work for their day-to-day needs.

How Assistive Tech Transforms Lives

A moving story shared during the golf day’s welcome address clearly demonstrated this real-world impact.

At a recent workshop for young people, a 13-year-old boy tried an Augmented Reality headset for the very first time. As he looked around the room, he suddenly recognised his teacher and jumped back in pure delight. With a wide smile, he exclaimed: “Miss, that’s the first time I’ve seen your face!” He immediately borrowed the device so he could experience seeing his brother’s face too.

Because of practical innovations like these, people with sight loss can navigate their surroundings safely, recognise family members, and stay deeply connected to everyday life.

Reflections from the Course

Reflecting on the day, Kenneth Curtis shared his appreciation:

“It was fantastic to get out on the course with great company and finally take the top spot after being runners-up in previous years! More importantly, it is a privilege to support My Sight Notts. Hearing stories like the young boy seeing his teacher’s face brings home just how vital this work is. They make a profound difference right across Nottinghamshire, and we are proud to support them.”

Lydia Fenton, Fundraising Manager at My Sight Notts, added:

“A huge congratulations to Kenneth and the Curtis Parkinson team on their well-deserved win, and our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the day. The £1,300 raised will go directly toward helping visually impaired people across Nottinghamshire live independent, fulfilling lives. Community support like this makes an enormous difference to what we can achieve.”

The Curtis Parkinson team would like to extend our warm thanks to Joanne Burr, Lydia Fenton, and the entire charity staff for organising such a memorable day.
