Those who have suffered a serious brain injury or illness, have dementia or have severe learning disabilities may lack mental capacity. There are two types of Deputyship that you can apply for:

1. Property and Financial Affairs: Used to pay bills and organise the individual’s finances;
2. Personal Welfare: For making decisions about medical treatment and how the person is looked after.

Official Fees & Our Costs

A Deputyship application can take up to six months to complete and can include a Court of Application fee of up to £365.00 (fees correct as at June 2020). This fee may be exempted or reduced dependent upon the number of assets and income of the person lacking capacity.

Broadly speaking, depending on the complexity of the case, our fees would be approximately £950.00 plus VAT.

Disputes

Unfortunately, there may be disputes where there is a conflict in opinion between loved ones or family members. Experienced members of our team are also available to advise and support you should a dispute arise.
